CRITICAL INQUIRY
Engage in effective critical inquiry by defining problems, gathering and evaluating evidence, and determining the adequacy of argumentative discourse.
MATH 287 is a class at Boise State University where we learn and practice writing about math. The following artifact is a report about the Euclidean algorithm. The class, broken into groups, observed properties of the algorithm by computing large quantities of numbers. Then each individual was to write up their findings.
This paper satisfies ULO 3 because it clearly identifies the issue (Euclidean algorithm). Experiments were done and data presented in a logical way to support presented conjectures. A failure of reasoning is documented in the conclusion of the paper: a theorem was proved using a conjecture rather than on other proven theorems or other given facts.
